Last summer I decided to start using separate planners for work and home, and I discovered the Day Designer was just what I needed to organize my work day. When I was contacted to review the newest Day Designer for Blue Sky collection, I was thrilled! After all, I was going to need to get a new academic year planner soon enough. 🙂 So, what is the Day Designer for Blue Sky Collection exactly?
The Day Designer for Blue Sky collection is a line of planners, calendars and desk accessories that empowers women to manage their busy daily lives with creativity and style. The line’s sophisticated aesthetic with classic patterns, colorful floral accents, stripes and touches of gold dresses up any desk or life space. In addition to planners and calendars, the collection has been expanded to include pencils, washi tape, a pen and clipfolio. The line is not just pretty planners but is intended to inspire organized individuals—such as busy professionals, on-the-go students or busy moms— to live a well-designed life. Dated July 2016-June 2015, the entire Day Designer for Blue Sky collection will be available exclusively at Target stores in May 2016, with select items available online at target.com and bluesky.com.
When this package arrived, my planner nerd heart went a-flutter! Look at how gorgeous the colors are. But besides being pretty, these products are all functional as well. The wall calendar is a nice size (15 x 12 in) which leaves plenty of space for penciling in events. A feature that I love about this wall calendar is that there is a column on the right hand side for projects, to-dos, and notes. And there are check boxes for when you complete items on your list! I am thinking about removing the hanging rod so I can use it as a desk pad at work since I’m not allowed to hang anything up on the wall in my office.
The 8.5 x 11 inch Clipfolio is one of my favorite pieces of the collection. The gold stripes are attractive and sophisticated looking, and the clipboard offers functionality. On the inside, there is a pocket for storing documents and a pad with tear-off sheets for taking notes. The sheet has a space for you to write the date, topic, questions, ideas, and action steps plus a reminder to transfer it to your planner! I can see myself carrying this to staff and management team meetings.
These pencils & pen are cute companions to your planner/calendar. The color scheme and gold accents tie it all together, and I love that the pen can be attached with a clip for easy access.
How pretty is this Modern Romantic weekly/monthly planner? At 5.875 x 8.625 inches, it’s the perfect size for toting along to meetings and in your purse/work bag.
Monthly calendar spreads give you a good overview of the entire month with pink flags marking holidays and extra space on the side for notes & to-dos.
Weekly calendar spreads give you the chance to fill in your top 3 tasks that need to get done, the events that are scheduled that day, and a blank box labeled “tonight” for after work activities (or meal planning…however it works for you!). Saturday and Sunday are simply lined columns. Other features I like about this planner are the lined note pages in the back (marked with its own tab!), the 2016-2017 reference calendars so you can see 2 years at a glance, and the pages which explain the 4 steps to the Day Designer planning method – Start with the big picture, set your goals, design your days, and stay on course.
The 8 x 10 inch weekly/monthly planner is very similar with some extra features added on. I adore the navy and white stripes with the gold coil, and the pink accents inside!
Here’s a peek at the monthly spread with a to-do/notes column on the left. Like the smaller planner, there are laminated tabs to help you quickly flip to each month.
I prefer the weekly spread of the larger planner because it also includes space for to-dos, gratitude, other notes, and a “next week” box. Plus inspirational quotes!
My only complaint about the larger planner is that there is no tab for the notes section, so it’s not easy to flip to it. But that’s a minor complaint!
I hope you enjoyed a sneak peek at the Day Designer for Blue Sky Collection – let me know if you decide to pick up any of these goodies for yourself!
